Though labelled as a 20 year-old Calvados, is actually a blend of the 1990 and 1992 distillations. This happy accident for us can trace its genesis to 2005 when a barrel of Huard??s 1990 Calvados went just below the legal minimum of 40% ABV.
To compensate, Jean-Fran?ois added this 1990 to a couple of oblong tonneau barrels of 1992, bringing the alcohol level back to a sale able state. Time has been kind to the blend, developing a rich texture and a deep nuance. The nose shows an aroma set of baked apples, toffee, and just there notes of toasted almonds.
The palate has a rich and viscous texture with baked apple, toffee, almonds, Normandy wood smoke and a lift of honey. We love this warm and long Calvados and hope you will too, so find a comfy spot and enjoy.
