The Brugal brand's most precious and valuable offering is fittingly enclosed in a beautiful and weighty perfume-style bottle with gold accents. ��Siglo de Oro' means ��golden age', which perfectly expresses and honours Brugal artistry in the ageing of its rums.
 
Molasses rendered from local sugarcane is double-distilled, then benefits from around eight years of maturation in medium-toasted, new white American oak bourbon barrels. If this wasn't enough, the spirit then rests in other new oak barrels for a further eight years or so. Despite all this loving care, it's the blending of these 16- to 21-year-old rums that really makes it sublime.
 
Remarkably smooth and surprisingly light for a rum this rich, with flavours of caramel and tobacco, leather and wood, and echoes of orange and coffee. The finish is soft yet spicy, with a last note of chocolate.
